Virtual Family Saturday: Jona Frank: Model Home
Museum of Art Student Education Assistant Jane Wang ’23 presents a family program based on the exhibition Jona Frank: Model Home. The program discusses how the artist captures themes of home, family, and memory through this immersive experience. Discussion is followed by a hand-on activity for young learners that invites them to depict their idea of home. Parents are encouraged to join their children in this virtual event. “Basket-making: Materials and Designs”
In this installment, Sinclaire Ledahl ’23, student education assistantm discusses historical and contemporary baskets on view in the student-curated exhibition “Innovation and Resilience Across Three Generations of Wabanaki Basketmaking.” The video highlights some of the unique designs and materials used by master basket-makers. The program also includes an interactive hands-on activity that encourages young learners to try creating their own weaving patterns.
For the activity, you will need: colored construction paper, scissors, tape or glue.
In this installment, Sabrina Lin '21, Curatorial Assistant and Manager of Student Programs, discusses work on view in the exhibition “There Is a Woman in Every Color: Black Women in Art,” including a highlight of the work Cutting Out CONYT 26 by American Conceptual Artist Lorraine O’Grady.
For the activity, you will need: a piece of white paper, copies of newspaper or magazines, scissors, and glue or tape.
In this installment, Student Education Assistant Jane Wang ’23 leads an interactive discussion of artworks from the exhibition “Creeping Pavement: Depictions of an Urbanizing America.” The video highlights works on view that demonstrate the changing relationship between humans and nature throughout the centuries, as well as the development of cities in the United States. The program also includes a small hands-on activity that encourages young learners to reflect upon their surrounding environment.
Selected Works: Transformations: New Acquisitions of Global Contemporary Art
Romiro Storni, º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ class of 2023, student education assistant at the º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ Museum of Art leads a family program in the exhibition, Transformations: New Acquisitions of Global Contemporary Art. He focuses on the painting When the Storm Ends I will Finish My Work by Meryl McMaster.
For the activity, you will need: 2 sheets of different colored construction paper, pencil, coloring materials, scissors, tape, and a ruler.
Amira Oguntoyinbo ’24, student assistant at the º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ Museum of Art, leads a virtual tour of selected works in the exhibition Transformations: New Acquisitions of Global Contemporary Art at the º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ Museum of Art.
For the activity you will need: paintbrushes, watercolor or acrylic paint, paper (preferably watercolor paper), and paper towels or an old rag.
Thais Carrillo, º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ Class of 2023, leads a family program in the exhibition Re | Framing the Collection: New Considerations In European And American Art 1475–1875.
For the family activity, you will need: drawing materials and paper.
Impressionism
In this episode, Camille Amezcua, º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ Class of 2022, explores Impressionism, in conjunction with the online exhibition, Along the Water: French and Dutch Impressionism.
For hands-on activity, you will need these supplies: acrylic paint, cardstock paper or canvas, a bunch of leaves, rubber bands or string, scissors, wax paper or palette.

For the activity, you’ll need: drawing paper; pencil, pen, and eraser; ruler, markers, crayons, or colored pencils. Optional: aluminum foil and glue.
