Grassroot Capital Investments is a private investment group focused on partnering with innovative and disruptive healthcare entrepreneurs. The team at Grassroot has a significant presence in the healthcare industry, offering strategic, financial, and operational expertise to entrepreneurs.

Interning at Grassroot Capital Investments allowed me to gain comprehensive experience in all aspects of a deal. This summer, I:

  • Reviewed pitch decks from prospective companies and participated in term sheet negotiations with the Managing Director.
  • Evaluated materials provided in data rooms and coordinated with companies for additional ad-hoc due diligence.
  • Authored and presented a comprehensive investment memo that detailed the evaluation, due diligence process, and investment recommendation for a prospective investment.
  • Built and maintained evergreen capitalization tables and liquidation waterfalls for both current and prospective investments.
  • Executed an end-to-end limited partner audit and reconciliation during capital call.
Through this internship experience, I confirmed that I thrive in environments where my work directly supports innovation in areas like medical devices that positively impact patients' lives while delivering returns for investors. This experience solidified my interest in working in strategy and finance, especially within the healthcare space.

Additionally, I refined my interpersonal and communication skills through interactions with company executives and experienced investors. This internship also strengthened my ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, concise presentations and memorandums. While I valued all aspects of the internship, drafting and presenting my investment memo was particularly rewarding, as it allowed me to apply my analytical skills and strategic thinking in a real-world context.

Internship funded by the Perper, Scott and Anne, Internship Fund.
