Working at a Biotechnology Start-Up

Developing a revolutionary gene therapy platform technology to treat Osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, and more

Remedium Bio is a biotechnology start-up that aims to develop a novel gene therapy platform that aims to treat prevalent diseases with unmet clinical needs. These diseases include Osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, and more.

While interning with Remedium Bio, I helped them with some ”wet-lab” tasks, such as lipid nanoparticle formulations, bioluminescence assays, and more. I also helped them with a bioinformatics project that included finding DNA Targeting Sequences to be included in the final genetic cargo.

Throughout this project, I learned that I was a quick learner, and a very hard worker. I also learned that the career path I wanted was potentially in industry (Research and Development), instead of academia. I learned so many new lab skills, from cell culture to lipid nanoparticle formulation, as well as some coding! I would say that the best part about this internship was being in a lab environment most days, and also the amazing company environment and people I was lucky to work with!

Internship funded by the CXD Funded Experiences and Skills.
