In my role with The City of Boise’s Climate Action Division I research different ways other cities communicate their sustainability goals and engage their communities in climate action.

Boise, Idaho’s Climate Action Division works to make The City more sustainable and resilient, with a focus on community engagement and action. I created a Climate Engagement Plan at the end of the summer which compiled the research I had done into my suggestions for The City.

What did I learn?

  • I learned that I am very passionate about working in climate action and the courses I have taken within my Earth and Oceanographic major have been endlessly helpful, even though I did not work directly with Earth science
  • I am now more confident than ever that I want to find a career in climate communications where I can utilize my creativity and interest in Earth science.
  • My ability to write clearly and concisely about the climate crisis and climate action has improved greatly

Internship funded by the CXD Internship Fund.
