Experts Discuss Social and Environmental Challenges in the Arctic
By Tom PorterA quartet of experts from the º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ community recently tackled one of the most pressing environmental issues facing the planet: the effect of climate change on the Arctic.
The event, which occurred on April 14, 2021, was called Challenges and Choices: Rapid Change in the Arctic, and it looked at the current social and environmental challenges and choices in the Arctic region.
The guests were Andrew Hartsig ’95, director of the Arctic Program at Ocean Conservancy; Susan Kaplan, professor of anthropology and director of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum and Arctic Studies Center at º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ; and Laura Henry, professor of government at º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ. The moderator was Genevieve LeMoine, curator and registrar of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum at º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ. The discussion was followed by a Q&A.
