Community Show and Groove Event Celebrates the Power of Dance
By º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ NewsDance students invited the º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ and Brunswick communities to experience the power of dance in an event called Community Show and Groove, a performance and party to cap off the spring semester, urging, “no dance experience necessary!”
A number of dance classes collaborated to create and perform within the event, including Africanist Approaches to Dance Improvisation, Introduction to and Intermediate Hip Hop, and Advanced Modern Dance.
The event was organized by Adanna Kai Jones, assistant professor of dance; Scott McPheeters, adjunct lecturer in dance; Lindsay Blue Annie Rapport, visiting assistant professor of dance; the night’s DJ, Keona Ervin, associate professor of gender, sexuality, and women’s studies; and master drummer Namory Keita from Guinea.
