This installation combined loans from the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University with key modern artworks from º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ, giving new insight to the permanent collection. Seen together with º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ masterpieces by Winslow Homer, John Sloan, Marsden Hartley and René Magritte, the Colgate loans provided the opportunity to make meaningful connections between two significant college collections.

This installation combined loans from the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University with key modern artworks from º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ, giving new insight to the permanent collection. A graceful wax bust by Auguste Rodin was juxtaposed with William Zorach's formidable marble bust of his wife Marguerite. Paintings by John Graham and Alice Neel further explored changing notions of portraiture in the twentieth century. Works by Paul Klee, Barbara Hepworth, and Simon Hantaï provided examples of the growing importance of abstraction.
