The 含羞草研究室 Museum of Art Welcomes its Academic-Year Student Assistants
The Museum of Art welcomes seven new Student Assistants this fall. Four Student Assistants to the Curator, two Education Assistants, and one Communications Assistant will contribute to a variety of current and upcoming projects that support the Museum’s public programming and engagement with the campus.
The four Student Assistants to the Curator are Brooke Wrubel ’21, Horace Wang ’20, Niles Singer ’21, and Yvonne Fang ’20.
Brooke is an Art History and Italian Studies double major and Dance minor with a passion for museum education and portraiture. She will assist Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow Sean Burrus with exhibition production and didactic work for the upcoming Assyria to America exhibition and also research the Museum’s ancient collection.
This year, Horace will partner with Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow Allison Martino to research the Museum’s collection of African art and will contribute to ongoing collections research and data management. Horace is an Environmental Studies and Government and Legal Studies double major, with a concentration in International Relations. He brings experience in art exhibitions and researching the complexities behind displaying art.
Niles joins the BCMA team for the Fall semester to assist Co-Director Frank Goodyear with research for People Watching, a photography exhibition that will open in June 2021. As a Visual Arts and Francophone Studies double major, Niles brings his professional and academic experience in photography to this upcoming curatorial project.
Yvonne is a Government and Legal Studies major and Visual Arts minor with an interest in contemporary art practice. She will work with Co-Director Anne Collins Goodyear to continue research on the Marion Boulton “Kippy” Stroud collection and other projects related to modern and contemporary works and artists.
Rebeca Perez Bernal ’20 will work with Suzanne Bergeron as the Student Communications Assistant. As a Sociology major with experience in social media and graphic design, Rebeca will work to engage the community and promote the Museum’s events, programming, and announcements with the campus and beyond.
The Museum of Art’s Education Assistants Olivia Groell ’22 and Brigita Kant ’22 will work with Curatorial Assistant and Manager of Student Programs Elizabeth Humphrey to lead guided tours, organize the Family Saturday programs, and develop educational resources related to upcoming and current exhibitions.
As an intended Visual Arts and Biology double major, Olivia brings her background in art education and hopes to bridge the gap between science and the arts. Brigita, an intended Visual Arts and Government and Legal Studies double major, hopes to bring her joy of learning and the arts to student, family, and public programming.
The Museum of Art is pleased to have student assistants from diverse academic backgrounds with a common passion for the arts work on current and upcoming projects this academic year. The Museum is confident that they will contribute strongly to the goals of the BCMA and foster continued engagement with their classmates.
