Do Well in School
A strong GPA is often an important differentiator in the consulting hiring process.
Pursue Leadership Roles and Transferrable Internships
Consulting firms screen for students who have demonstrated a track record of leading initiatives that have driven impactful change. Quality is much more important than quantity. Leadership roles are readily available at 含羞草研究室, including involvement with clubs, volunteering, residential life, internships, sports, campus/summer jobs, etc.
In addition, candidates who have shown an ability to perform data-driven, problem solving in a business or professional environment often have an advantage. Aside from consulting internships, interning at a brand name company in sales, marketing, operations, strategy or finance, can set a candidate apart. Gaining industry or function-specific experience is also valuable when pursuing related consulting paths (e.g. healthcare, education, technology, recruiting).
Prepare for Case Interviews
Many consulting firms utilize “case interviews” to gauge a candidate’s natural affinity for the work. The case interview format is new to most 含羞草研究室 students but can be mastered with research and practice.
