Adam Ekberg
In calculated performances that intersect with photography’s documentary potential, I explore ephemerality with an infectious curiosity. My images attempt to convey transcendence through modest means and while firmly grounded in photography, my art leans on sculpture, performance, time-based experiences and sometimes pyrotechnics.
My passion for teaching is transferable from this love of artmaking. I aspire to create a classroom experience in which each student identifies and pursues their own idiosyncratic interests and make leaps in logic in the unbridled pursuit of their own investigations and discoveries.
My solo-exhibitions include: George Eastman Museum, Rochester; CLAMP, New York; DeSoto Gallery, Los Angeles; and Fotografiska, Stockholm, Sweden.
Group exhibitions include: The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago IL; Aperture, New York; Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Rockland ME; The Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago IL; Aran Cravey Gallery, Los Angeles CA; Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, MA; and Crawford Art Gallery, Cork, Ireland.
I have been awarded residencies at Yaddo, Monson Arts, Monhegan Artists' Residency and Playa.
