Martin Abel
Assistant Professor of Economics
Martin Abel is an assistant professor of economics. He is an applied microeconomist with a research focus on development economics, labor economics, and behavioral economics.
A specific focus of his research is on studying barriers that women face in the labor market. This includes studying the effect of labor market policies such as providing reference letters, employment bonuses, counseling, or vocational training. Most of this work is conducted in developing countries including South Africa, Rwanda, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico, often in cooperation with local governments. In addition, he studies labor market discrimination. Most of his work includes conducting field experiments and involves primary data collection.
