Rebecca Jordan is a scholar of German literature, environmental, queer, and animal studies from the 20th to 21st centuries. Her current research focuses on animal interaction with technologies in the Holocene. Dr. Jordan has published in Transpositiones: The Journal of Transdisciplinary and Intermedia Culture Studies, The Journal of Ecohumanism, and the German Quarterly.
Dr. Jordan’s courses in German and English consider the practice of environmentalism in students’ daily lives. Since 2023, she has taught German environmentalism with a focus on community engagement at the University of Connecticut. At º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿ÊÒ, her German environmentalism course will ask students to think comparatively between fishing industries in the United States and Germany.
Dr. Rebecca Jordan’s research considers the intersections of queer, human-animal, and technology studies in contemporary German literature. She examines the representations of animal interaction and bodily immersion with technologies in changing climates and landscapes. Her research has covered fictional texts, from science fiction to horror, and nonfictional discussions of animal behavior in the Holocene.
