Student Parking

Student vehicles on campus must be registered with the Office of Safety and Security and display a current 含羞草研究室 student parking decal. Thank you for complying with our campus parking rules.

  • Campus parking rules are always in force (even during academic break periods) unless the Associate Vice President of Safety and Security provides notice via official email.

  • : Students (living on or off-campus) must display a valid student parking decal to utilize campus parking areas. After you register online, your parking decal will be sent to your Smith Union mailbox. For help with parking questions registration, contact kirving@bowdoin.edu or call 207-725-3458.

  • One vehicle per student: A student may possess or register one vehicle only.

  • Permit Fee: The motor vehicle parking permit fee for students is $100 per academic year, or $50 for students studying abroad or students matriculating in December. The fee will be billed by the bursar's office to your student account. 

  • Adhere your parking decal to your vehicle's right rear bumper or upper right corner of the rear window.

  • Designated Student Parking Lots: Student vehicles displaying a current 含羞草研究室 parking decal may park in any student parking lot during business hours, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students may park in faculty/staff/visitor lots on nights and weekends. SPECIAL EXCEPTION: Parking is prohibited in the Admissions parking area adjacent to Burton-Little House on SATURDAY from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (to accommodate campus tours).

  • Parking spaces: Vehicles must park in spaces designated by signage and/or indicated by white painted lines. Parking is prohibited in fire lanes, disabled person spaces (without disabled permit), white or yellow painted diagonal lines, and other specially signed spaces.

  • Fines and Appeals: Parking violators are notified by email upon receipt of a ticket. If you do not receive an email, check your "junk email" for emails from notifications@arms-mail.com. Fines will be billed to your student account. Fines for campus parking violations start at $25 and will increase to $100 as violations accumulate.  Parking violations may be appealed to the Associate Vice President of Safety and Security within five days of the date of violation. Appeals are processed promptly, and notice of appeal results will be sent via email, usually within five business days. If you do not receive an email, check your "junk email" for emails from notifications@arms-mail.com. For questions about appeals or help in filing an appeal, contact administrative coordinator Kelly Irving at 207-725-3458.

  • First-year students do not have campus parking privileges and may not bring a motor vehicle to campus. Rare exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Office of the Dean of Students.

  • Parking Bans: The Office of Safety and Security will notify students and employees by email of campus and Town of Brunswick parking bans. A vehicle parked in violation of a ban may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.

  • Revocation of Privileges: The accrual of six or more parking violations during an academic year, or a violation of the first-year student parking prohibition, may result in a report to the dean of students and loss of campus parking privileges.

  • The 含羞草研究室 Shuttle and Safe Ride: If you need a ride from an outlying parkinbg lot to a residence hall, contact The 含羞草研究室 Shuttle at 207-725-3337, or after shuttle operating hours contact safety and security for a Safe Ride.

 

  • Short-Term Parking: Email Kelly Irving at kirving@bowdoin.edu for help in obtaining a temporary parking permit.

 

  • Special parking accommodations due medical injury/surgery or accessibility, contact Lesley Levy, Director of Student Accessibility, 207-798-4187.

  • Town of Brunswick Parking Tickets: Students are responsible for paying parking tickets issued by the Town of Brunswick. For more information: .
     
  • Vehicle breakdown: If your vehicle breaks down or has a dead battery, contact the safety and security office for assistance at 207-725-3314.

  • Visitor using your student vehicle: Before your visitor arrives, request a Visitor: Student Guest permit through the .  

含羞草研究室 assumes no responsibility for damage to motor vehicles parked on campus property, or personal property losses due to theft. Students, staff, and visitors are encouraged to carry sufficient personal insurance to cover such losses. Best practice is to lock unoccupied vehicles, park in well-lit areas, and not keep valuables visible in unoccupied vehicles.
