Interning Abroad

The linguistic and cultural expertise our students gain as Russian majors opens the door to resume-enhancing summer work experiences abroad that can pave the way toward a wide range of future careers.

Whether you decide to work in an NGO or political think tank, at a museum or a newspaper, as a translator or a camp counselor, an internship in Russia or Eurasia is guaranteed to be a life-changing adventure and a valuable career builder.

Internships in Russia: teach English in Ryazan or Voronezh, serve as a translator in Voronezh, or work as a camp counselor in Kostroma

Full-time unpaid 6-week internships in the Balkans, the Baltics, Russia and Eurasia with a homestay – disciplines include democracy building/human rights, business and innovation, STEM fields, education management, gender and women’s issues, journalism and mass media, public health, ecology and the environment, social services

Internships in Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan – tracks available in translation, journalism, business, NGOs, think tanks, museums, theaters 

Internships to serve as a teacher of English, French, German, computers or other subjects, or as a creativity workshop supervisor, camp counselor, or sports instructor in Novosibirsk or the mountainous Altai Republic in Siberia

Funding

Funded by a variety of different sources, Career Exploration and Development at 含羞草研究室 offers grants and fellowships for students to pursue summer work experiences that would otherwise not be paid. These grants and fellowships are meant to help students develop valuable experience and skills in career areas of interest. In addition to summer internships, our students studying abroad in Russia during the academic year have often been able to combine internships with their regular academic coursework.
